How to Go to Heaven

According to the Word of God

It is very simple to be saved and takes only a minute to explain. Please let me show you how to get to Heaven from the Bible, God's Word...

  1. Man is a sinner.

  • Isaiah 53:6, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
  • John 3:3, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
  • Romans 3:10, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.
  • Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

  1. There is a price on our sin―eternal death in Hell.

  • Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
  • Romans 5:12, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.
  • 2nd Thessalonians 1:8, “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
  • Revelation 20:15, "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
  • Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

  1. Jesus paid that price by dying on the cross and shedding His blood.

  • Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
  • John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
  • 1st Timothy 1:15, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”
  • 1st Peter 1:18-19, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ...”

  1. By faith in Jesus Christ ALONE we can be saved.
Salvation is NOT found in a religion or good works, but in a Person... The LORD JESUS CHRIST!

  • John 11:25, “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.
  • John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
  • John 6:40, “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
  • Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
  • Acts 26:18, “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
  • Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
  • 1st Corinthians 3:11, "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
  • Galatians 3:26, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

HERE IS HOW YOU CALL UPON THE LORD
Do you admit that you are a GUILTY sinner, under the condemnation of God's LAW, deserving of Hellfire?
Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God (God in the flesh) who died upon the cross, sacrificing His precious blood to pay for your sins?
If you'd like to be saved, simply come in your heart as a guilty sinner and BELIEVE upon the Lord Jesus Christ.
Perhaps you'd feel comfortable praying a sinner's prayer as did the publican in Luke 18:13... “And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto Heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Dear Jesus,
I admit that I am a sinner, deserving of Hell. Please forgive me of my sins and take me to Heaven when I die. I now believe upon You alone, apart from all self-righteous works and religion, as my personal Savior. Thank you. Amen.
Just as you were born physically to your parents, so you were born spiritually into the Family of God when you received Jesus! Please understand that we are not saved because we pray a prayer; but because we believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ. It is certainly appropriate to ask the Lord in prayer to forgive and save us; but it is our faith which prompts us to pray. You could just as easily believe in your heart upon the Lord to be saved, and not pray at all. Salvation is of the heart, as we read in Romans 10:10, For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness...
It's not what you're doing that gets you to Heaven, it's where you're looking. Look to Jesus!
You do NOT have to be water baptized nor doing anything to get to Heaven other than trust upon the Lord as your Savior. Romans 4:5 proclaims... “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him (Jesus) that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” What a wonderful truth! Our faith is COUNTED for righteousness! There is NO self-righteousness involved in salvation. It is the gift of God. You see, we have no righteousness of our own to offer God. No amount of good can undo the bad we've done. Thus, Jesus paid a debt that He did not owe, because we owed a debt that we could not pay. Salvation is receiving, not giving. We are Sinners and Jesus is the Savior. Jesus is precious!
Unbelief is the only sin which can keep you out of Heaven.
Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no lodge, no good works can save you. Remember, God does the saving. All of it!
God's simple plan of salvation is: You are a sinner. Therefore, unless you believe on Jesus Who died in your place, you will spend eternity in Hell. If you believe on Him as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith.
You say, Surely, it cannot be that simple! Yes, that simple. It is scriptural; it is God's plan. My friend, believe on Jesus and receive Him as Savior today.
If you've never been saved, then now is the time to believe upon the name of Jesus, the Christ, that your sins will be blotted out forever and you can know that your name is written in Heaven.
Christ died for your sins. You are a sinner by nature and by choice. Jesus took your sins and charged them to His own record. He went to the cross and paid the penalty for your sins. He says if you're willing to receive Him in faith; He will transfer His payment to your debt, and His righteousness to your sins. He will impute to you His goodness, and impute to His own record your sin; if you in faith will trust Him as your Savior.

Salvation

Why do I need to be saved?

God leaves no doubt about our condition. While we set our standards of right and wrong by society's values, God’s standard is His own holiness. How do we measure up? "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). It is only fair that God demands holiness; that is how He first created mankind. We have rebelled against Him as a race and as individuals.
Our pathway away from God has brought its consequences. "The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23a). The Bible compares sin to a cruel slave master. There is no mercy in suffering, no freedom from bondage, no lasting joy, no hope for the future. Most frightening is the final consequence of sin. The Bible warns that without God’s salvation, death is the doorway to eternal punishment (Hebrews 9:27).
It is from this that we need to be saved. From our own sin. From its bondage. From its consequences. "How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?" (Hebrews 2:3).

How does God say I can be saved?

God is holy and God is love. His holiness demands that our sin be punished in full. His love provides a way for us to be saved from this punishment. How is this possible? Someone was willing to suffer what we deserve. Our substitute had to be a sinless man, able to suffer the full wrath of God against our sin. The only one able to take our place was God’s Son.
The greatest display of God’s love unfolded as His Son left heaven to become a man. Born of a virgin 2000 years ago, the Lord Jesus Christ lived with His creation. He was unable to sin, yet He showed compassion to sinners all around Him. Men hated Christ because His holiness exposed their sinfulness. They decided to remove Him by crucifying Him. He willingly allowed them to nail Him to a cross of wood outside Jerusalem. They suspended Him so they could sit and watch Him die. The climax of God’s plan of salvation had arrived as God covered the earth with darkness. The Bible tells us that for three hours He laid on His Son the full punishment we deserve to receive for our sin. The darkness was broken when Jesus Christ called out with a loud voice, "It is finished". He had accomplished the mighty work, God’s great plan of salvation.
After three days in death, Christ Jesus rose from the dead. This is evidence to all who saw Him and to all who read God’s word that Christ’s suffering completely satisfied His father. He was victorious over death itself – the ultimate consequence of our sin.
God’s plan of salvation brings us into the good of Christ’s suffering, death, and victory. "For when we were yet without strength, in due time, Christ died for the ungodly" (Romans 5:6). "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

3.Salvation, Gods Plan of Salvation and You

Our Separation from God

Adam and Eve when first created by God, were perfect. They soon fell into sin when they ate of the fruit of the tree that God had told them not to eat. We may think that this was no big deal, it was only eating of the fruit; but in fact they disobeyed and sinned against God. In God's eyes sin is sin, no different than us trying to justify the "little sins" that we do. Whenever we do anything that violates God's Word that is sin, regardless of the size or magnitude of that sin.

After Adam And Eve sinned they covered themselves with fig leaves; but God guickly stepped in and covered them with animal skins because their attempts to cover themselves was not acceptable unto God. From the moment that they had sinned, God initiated His plan of redemption so they could be redeemed back to Him. Also from that point all mankind has been born with a sin nature. The Bible says that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

From the time that Adam and Eve tried to cover themselves with fig leaves man has been trying many different avenues to cover themselves in such a way that he could somehow earn his way into Heaven. All down through the ages right to the present, man has tried to earn a right into Heaven through doing good things, joining a Church, baptism, christening; and sadly many are resting in false hopes of these things being enough to earn them a right into Heaven someday. It is mainly because of improper understanding of the Bible, wrong teaching of the Bible within many Churches, and traditions passed down through families that many people are led astray and don't even realize it.

God had sent Jesus Christ to come to this earth to teach us His ways and also to die as an acceptable and sinless sacrifice for us. It was through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that He paid for all sin committed by all mankind. Interestingly Jesus paid for the sin of all mankind and that means that in theory every person could have ended up in Heaven.

The Bible says that few will end up in Heaven and many will be on the wide road to destruction or Hell. Why? Because even thought Jesus paid for the sin of everyone it is because of sin and unbelief. Each person has to come to the realization that they acknowledge that they are a sinner, and that they have sinned against God. They have to come to believe and trust that Jesus already paid for their sin back at the cross; and that there is nothing whatsoever they can do to earn their way into a right relationship with God and Heaven.

There are those that may say, well that is too easy to be true. Well, if it is so easy then why are there so few that are true believers and have become children of God. If you are one of these people and believe it is that easy then why haven't you been able to take that step. Actually according to God's Word you could not take that step of faith anyway unless the Spirit of God was drawing you to come to Him.

No sin can ever enter Heaven or it really would not be Heaven if there was sin there. All mankind has sinned there is no other choice for fallen man left except for Hell. There is no in between, all those who are not of God will end up in Hell forever and ever.

A man needs to be saved or born again if he wants to escape the Hell that awaits him and also so he can live in fellowship with God. Eternally it is far better to end up in Heaven than to end up in Hell. If you think Hell isn't real then you need to read about it in God's Word. Jesus talked more about Hell than about Heaven; because He was warning man about it so we would come to Him for salvation.

Why do I need to be saved? How does God say I can be saved?

The Gospel is the good news about Jesus Christ. The Bible says that you must be born again. God knew from eternity past that man would fall and so he did fall. God provided a means of reconciliation for man because there was nothing that man could do to reconcile himself and become acceptable to God. Jesus Christ with His own life and the shedding His own blood provided the only possible restoration for man.

How can a man be saved or born again?

Every human being on this earth could be saved because Jesus Christ died on the cross, took on all the sin of mankind upon Himself and provided salvation for all as the Bible says. Salvation has been provided to all but it must be accepted individually by each person. Each one individually has to recognize their need for salvation and realize that God has provided for your salvation through Jesus Christ, and then you have to embrace it.

Salvation is the act of delivering from sin or saving from evil. Salvation or becoming saved simply is the process of confessing and believing. You must confess that Jesus is Lord and that you are a sinner in need of salvation. Then you need to believe that God has given us His Son Jesus Christ to die for your sin and also that He raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Jesus has paid for all sin and provided man a life free from the penalty of sin to those that accept Him as their Savior.

The Bible says "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

Also as the Bible tells us, “For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

In the beginning, God created us in His own image. He planned for us to have an abundant life. But He did not make us as robots, so we do not "automatically" love and obey Him. God gives each person a will and a freedom of choice.

Adam and Eve chose to disobey God and to go their own willful way. All of us have inherited the results of that first bad choice. We still make the same choice today. Adam sinned, and that sin brought death into the world. Now everyone has sinned, and so everyone must die (Romans 5:12). This choice produced separation from God.

The Bible says in...

Romans 3:23 ‘For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.’

Romans 6:23 ‘For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ

Our attempts to reach God all have failed

People have tried in many ways to bridge the gap between themselves and God.
But the Bible says in...

Proverbs 14:12 'There is a pathway that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death."

Jesus Christ died on the Cross and rose from the grave. He paid the penalty for our sin and removed the barrier that separates people from God.

The Bible says in...

Romans 5:8 ‘But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’

1 Timothy 2:5 ‘For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ.’

1 Peter 3:18 ‘For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.’

God has provided the only way but it is our choice.

Salvation is totally free for us, it was completely paid in full and a great sacrifice by Jesus Christ, through an aweful and agonizing death on the Cross. Individually we must trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation.

Revelation 3:20 ‘Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.’

John 1:12 ‘Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.’

Romans 10:9 ‘That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.’

What does it mean to receive Christ?

Receiving Christ involves a change of heart, a turning from your old path to a new path that God has for you.

Accepting Jesus means to:

1. SINNER - Confess you area sinnerand to admit your need.
2. REPENT - Be willing and have a heartfelt need to turn away from your sins.
3. TRUST JESUS - Believe that Jesus Christ died for 'you' on the Cross and rose from the grave to offer you eternal life.
4. RECEIVE HIM AS LORD AND SAVIOR - Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come into your life, and to control your life, through the Holy Spirit.

If this prayer below expresses the desire of your heart

Why not pray right now?

The exact wording of this prayer below, is not important; as long as you truly have a desire from your heart that you want to give yourself to Him. You can pray something like this.
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave to give me life. I want to turn from my sins. I know You are the only way to God so now I want to turn from disobeying You and start living for You. Please forgive me and change my life. I now invite you to come into my heart and life. In Jesus' name. Amen.

If you prayed something like this you are now a child of God. God offers His assurance to us through His promises in the Bible:
The Bible says...

Romans 10:13 ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

4.I'm Not a Bad Person; I Don't Need to be "Saved" From Anything!

Well, actually, you are a bad person ...

... that is, of course, depending on how you define "bad." There's your normal, everyday definition, but we also need to know God's definition, according to the Bible.
First, lets look at the normal, everyday, definitions of "bad" and "good":
Bad:
Mean, cruel, hateful, sadistic, deceitful, etc.
Good:
Nice, compassionate, loving, caring, honest, etc.
Most people would probably see themselves as having some good and some bad within their personalities. Maybe more good than bad, maybe more bad than good. It might be said that even the worst people have some good qualities, and even the best people have some bad qualities.
I guess I can go along with that, to a point; however, God's definitions of "good" and "bad" are quite different:
Bad:
"Whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it" (James 2:10) "All have turned away, they have together become worthless ... All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:12, 23)
Good:
"No one is good--except God alone." (Mark 10:18)
That last statement was made by Jesus himself. When His disciples heard Him say that, they asked, "Who then can be saved?" (Mark 10:26) You might wonder the same thing.
Jesus answered this question by saying, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." (v. 27)
In other words, no one is "good enough" to pass God's moral standards, and no one can "save" themselves; only God Himself can save a person!
Of course this leads to the next question...

What does "saved" mean, anyway??

Many religions and philosophies teach about the ultimate level of existence, the perfect condition of spiritual peace, nirvana, self-actualization, whatever.
In biblical Christianity, salvation is a huge concept with many facets, including the following (these are the actual theological terms of Romans 8:29-30, followed by a more "non-theologian"-friendly definition):
  1. Foreknowledge -- God intimately knows and loves you before you're even born.
  2. Predestination -- God gives you an eternal destiny before you're born.
  3. Calling -- God lets you hear about Jesus, and leads you to put your trust and faith in Him.
  4. Justification -- As soon as you put your full trust and faith in Jesus Christ as the One who took your punishment (that is, that He is your "Savior"), and the One who is your absolute authority in life (that is, that He is your "Lord"), God gives you Jesus' perfect moral record, and eternally declares you "not guilty."
  5. Glorification -- At a certain time in the future, God gives you a new, perfected body that will never get sick or die. This is an absolute guarantee.
Pretty amazing "benefits package," if you ask me. Now you might wonder...

How can I possibly get all that?

Every religious and philosophical system has its own path to "ultimate fulfillment." In order to reach a "higher level," one must discipline their thoughts and actions in such a way as to reach this goal, or "salvation."
For example:
  • Buddhists strive for their goal through chanting and prayer.
  • Muslims strive for their goal by submitting to the will of Allah.
  • Anarchists strive for their goal by rebelling against society.
  • Hedonists strive for their goal by seeking pleasure.
  • Catholics strive for their goal by keeping the sacraments.
  • Many others who consider themselves "Christian" strive for their goal through regular church attendance, and doing good things.
  • Mystics and occultists strive for their by seeking supernatural experiences.
  • Atheists strive for their goal by disproving the existence of God.
I could go on, but you probably get the idea by now.
In the face of all these human religions and philosophies, biblical Christianity teaches something completely opposite:
"It is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
No matter how hard you try, you can't save yourself. Still, to receive the gift, there is something you need to do, right here, right now:
  • Repent -- This means to "change your mind" about how you live your life. Stop living for yourself and begin living for the God of the Bible.
  • Put your full trust and faith in Jesus Christ -- Not only that He exists, that He is the Son of God, that He died, was buried, and brought back to life, but also that He is your only hope for salvation, and that He is your highest authority.
That's all you can do; God will do the rest, just watch!
One more quote, from Jesus:
"All [of the people] that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away." (John 6:37, emphasis mine)

5. What Must I do To Be Saved

What Must I Do To Be Saved?

by Rolaant L. McKenzie
Acts 16:22-30 (NASB)
  1. The crowd rose up together against them, and the chief magistrates tore their robes off them and proceeded to order them to be beaten with rods.
  2. When they had struck them with many blows, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to guard them securely;
  3. and he, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
  4. But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them;
  5. and suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were unfastened.
  6. When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors opened, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.
  7. But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!"
  8. And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas,
  9. and after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

What must I do to be saved? This is the most important question one can ask, for the answer one receives and accepts will make the difference between being lost and eternally separated from God, or having eternal life and fellowship with God. Fortunately, this question is asked and answered in the the Word of God, the Bible.
The Apostle Paul and Silas were thrown in jail in the city of Philippi for preaching the gospel. At midnight they sang and prayed until God broke down all the doors and broke the stocks which held their feet with a great earthquake. The poor jailer, frightened and convicted of his sins, came to these two preachers and asked this question.

"Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

To which the preachers said:
"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."
(Acts 16:31)
This is God's plan of salvation, which is the only plan He has given so that sinners can be saved.
There was hope for this jailer because he was convicted in his heart of his sinfulness. He saw himself as he really was: a lost sinner in need of the saving power of Jesus Christ. Like the jailer, you are a sinner. The Bible emphasizes that fact in Isaiah 53:6:
"All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way;"
And in Romans 3:9-12 it says:
"What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; as it is written, 'THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.'"
Romans 3:23 teaches that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". That is why Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3:7, "Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'" And a little later in the same chapter, verse 18, He said that those who do not believe in Him, God's Son, stand condemned already.
The Bible makes it abundantly clear that all are sinners. No matter how good you and those around you think you are, you are a sinner. The sinner remains lost and in need of saving until he accepts Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The first step in coming to salvation is admitting in your own heart that you are a sinner, lost, separated from God.
Once you have come to acknowledge the truth of this, then you are ready to learn God's answer to your question, "What must I do to be saved?"
You are in a fatal state that has dire eternal consequences. You are a sinner, alienated from God, destined for hell, and you cannot save yourself. The only thing to do is to trust completely in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. Do not trust in Jesus plus whatever good deeds you may do, religious rituals, water baptism, Sabbath-keeping, church membership, your faith, or your repentance. For whatever "righteousness" we can muster is but filthy rags to God (Isaiah 64:6). Trust in Him alone. When you do this, you will then have God's promise of salvation.
Simply believing in the existence of God, or that Jesus is Savior and Lord is not enough. For that is no better than the faith of demons. They believe that and tremble (James 2:19). You can believe that taking medication prescribed by your doctor will maintain your life without actually taking it. Mere intellectual assent to the truth about Jesus is not sufficient; you are to believe on Him, that is, depend completely upon Him, trust Him.
None of us, no matter how much good we may do, deserve salvation. There is nothing you can do that will make you worthy of it. You cannot be saved by keeping the Ten Commandments, for the Scripture clearly shows that you have not kept them.
James 2:10 says: "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all."
Romans 3:19-20 says: "Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin."
The same thing is told in Galatians 3:11 which says: "Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, 'THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.'"
1 John 1:8 says, "If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us."
The Bible clearly teaches repeatedly that there is no salvation through human goodness, since no one is righteous or seeks God (Romans 3:10-11). You are not saved by giving money to the church or to the poor. You are not saved by volunteering your time to charitable activities. You are not saved by living a moral life.
Titus 3:5 says: "He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit."
Ephesians 2:8-9 says: "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."
It can be readily seen in God's Word that no one deserves saving and no one can save himself. Salvation must be by grace or no one would be able to receive it. In fact, it takes blood to pay for sin, for Scripture says:
"Without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." (Hebrews 9:22)
"For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly." (Romans 5:6)
"All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; but the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him." (Isaiah 53:6)
The Apostle Peter declares that sinners are bought by the blood of Christ:
"You were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ." (1 Peter 1:18-19)
Every animal sacrifice offered in Old Testament times on the altar illustrated this: that man, a guilty sinner, must have his sins paid for by the shedding of blood of an innocent. Jesus was the Lamb of God. He died for sinners just like you, securing salvation for them as a gift.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
Church membership will not save you. Water baptism will not save you. Reforming your behavior will not save you. Engaging in religious activities will not save you. The observance of certain days or other rules and regulations will not save you or keep you saved.
The Bible plainly teaches that "all people everywhere should repent" (Acts 17:30), and again, "Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3, 5). This was the preaching of John the Baptist, of Jesus, of Peter and of Paul, that men should repent. Repentance is an integral part of salvation.
Repentance does not mean being sorry you were caught. It is not just being sorry for your sin. Repentance is not "fire insurance", or taking an action to get away from God's wrath.
To repent literally means to have a change of mind toward God and toward sin. It means agreeing with God regarding the truth of your own sinfulness. Repentance means not excusing your sins or seeking to justify yourself, but admitting, like David in Psalm 51:4: "Against You, You only, I have sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge." Repentance means to earnestly turn from your sins, with all your heart, and trust in Jesus Christ alone to save you. The jailer repented when he turned from sin to believe in Jesus Christ.
While God desires that you to have a penitent, broken heart over your sins, no amount of emotion or lack thereof will make you right with God. You should be sorry for your sins and ashamed of them. However, Scripture teaches that "the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation." (2 Corinthians 7:10) -- the right kind of sorrow leads to immediate repentance, but mourning is not itself repentance.
The jailer's sorrow for his sin led to genuine repentance, which moved him by faith to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. He was saved at that moment, and his whole family was saved the same way. So salvation is a gift that is granted by God at the moment a person turns to Jesus Christ in repentance and total trust.
Being saved by faith apart from works seems so easy, and it is. Many believe it is too easy and erroneously seek to add to God's plan of salvation. Godly living comes as the result of accepting Christ as Savior and Lord. Do not depend, then, on what you do, but on what Jesus did and promises to do for you.
Must one who accepts Christ by faith have a change of heart? Most definitely. But that is God's part, not yours. In order to have this change of heart you need to be born again. When Jesus talked to Nicodemus in John 3, He told him that the only way one could be saved that person had to be born again. Being born again changes your heart and mind, making you a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The change in your heart is according to God's work in your life, not your efforts. Your are to simply believe on Him. And even this ability to believe, to trust, to have faith, comes as a gift from Him. Salvation from start to finish is of the Lord, and not according to your own merit, abilities, or power.
After you are saved, you will get a peace and joy that transcends all understanding and circumstances in life. Instead of living a life in opposition to God, you desire to serve Him by obeying His command to be baptized, reading His Word, sharing the great news of the gospel with the unsaved, and otherwise living a life that is pleasing to God. This brings about continual fellowship with the Lord, and provides joy in the Christian life. And you can thank God that salvation is settled once and for all.
Everyone who is saved ought to publicly confess Christ. Matthew 10:32 and Romans 10:9 plainly teach that God will claim as His child any of us who claim Christ as Savior and Lord. We simply confess with the mouth what we have already trusted in our hearts. Concerning this Romans 10:10 says:
"For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."
To claim Christ as your Savior and Lord simply means that you trust in Him from your heart. When you have received Him, you have done everything necessary to be saved. Remember, Acts 16:31 says, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved". The Bible teaches in numerous places that salvation is promised to those who believe. Carefully read the following Scriptures and see that this is taught over and over again.
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name." (John 1:12)
"As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:14-16)
"He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:18)
"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." (John 3:36)
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life." (John 5:24)
"For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day." (John 6:40)
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life." (John 6:47)
"Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins." (Acts 10:43)
"And through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses." (Acts 13:39)
"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved." (Acts 16:30-31)
Trust in Jesus today, while you can. Have the kind of trusting faith in Him that an infant has in its mother while being cradled in her arms.
If you had committed a crime and were thrown in jail, probably the first thing you would do is hire a lawyer in whom you had confidence and trust him with the entire matter of your defense. According to the Bible, before accepting Christ as Savior and Lord, you are a criminal in God's sight, abiding in His wrath and destined for hell. But God has provided an Advocate to defend you. Jesus is that Advocate, for the Bible says:
"My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world." (1 John 2:1-2)
Jesus will not only be your lawyer to defend your case; He has already paid the penalty and you may safely trust Him to have you immediately pardoned and justified before God! Why not simply trust completely in Jesus as your lawyer? He is the best advocate anyone could ever have, and no bill will come to you. His rates are free!
Consider your eternal destiny. Will it be a joyful life beyond imagination in heaven with God, or misery beyond description in hell? Jesus holds out His hands to you in invitation. No matter where you have been or what you have done, come to Him and He will welcome you with open arms. Do not harden your heart in refusal; do not say, "Tomorrow I will come to Him." Tomorrow may never come.
"Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth." (Proverbs 27:1)
"Behold, now is 'THE ACCEPTABLE TIME,' behold, now is 'THE DAY OF SALVATION.'" (2 Corinthians 6:2)
"TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS." (Hebrews 3:7-8)
God has given you life to this moment, but there is no promise of another opportunity tomorrow. Please accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior today, right now!
One who trusts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior should publicly claim Him before men. "For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." (Romans 10:10)
After trusting Jesus Christ you should join a well-balanced, Bible-believing church and be baptized. It is my hope that you will find such a church and attend it faithfully.

Summary
You are not saved by your good deeds. You are not saved by being a member of a church. You are not saved by being sincere. You are not saved by your intelligence.
What must you do? You must believe in Jesus alone; you must trust Him alone; you must accept Jesus' sacrifice for your sins alone and nothing that you do in any way.
Though there are no rules or steps to becoming a Christian, the following is a Biblical summarization of what you need to know and do:

  1. You must recognize your sinfulness before God:
"Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned". (Romans 5:12)

  2. You must recognize that your sin has caused a separation between you and God:
"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear." (Isaiah 59:2)

  3. You must believe that Jesus is the only way to God:
"I am the way, the truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father but by Me." (John 14:6)

  4. You must ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins because He has the authority to forgive you of your sins:
"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me'". (Matthew 28:18) Jesus told you to ask Him for your requests: "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it". (John 14:14) Jesus is the one who forgives sins: "'But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins -- He said to the paralytic, 'I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home'." (Mark 2:10-11)
You must receive Jesus. John 1:12 says, "Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."

  5. You must turn away from your sin
"In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent" (Acts 17:30); and to "produce fruit in keeping with repentance" (Matthew 3:8).
If you want to be saved you must accept Jesus as your Savior. Pray to Him and ask Him to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart. He will because He loves you.
Salvation is only a prayer of faith away.

If you believe these things, you can pray a prayer like the one below, to receive Jesus into your life, keeping in mind that merely saying a prayer in itself does not save you, for prayer is not like a magic charm or incantation. Only faith in Jesus Christ alone saves.
"Father in heaven, I come to you confessing that I am a sinner, completely lost and without hope. I repent of my sinful ways and ask for Your forgiveness. I believe in my heart that Christ Jesus is the Son of God, that He completely paid for all of my sins by His death on the cross, and that You raised Him from the dead. I confess that Jesus is my Savior and Lord. I trust in Him, and Him alone, for my salvation. I believe that through His shed blood I have eternal life. I will pray, study, meditate and live by Your Word the rest of my life. Father, I ask that You fill me with the Holy Spirit. Please come into my heart and save and sanctify my soul. I love you, Lord, and offer myself to You completely and without reservation. In the precious name of Jesus I pray. Amen."
If you prayed a prayer like this and meant it with all your heart, YOU ARE SAVED! You have been "born again" spiritually as a child of God. Your sins have been washed away and you are a person with a new nature.
After receiving salvation, you should join a Christ-centered church that preaches the gospel and be baptized. You should also pray and read your Bible daily, and regularly assemble with fellow Christians at your church.
Suggestions for Christian Growth:
Spiritual growth results from trusting Jesus Christ. "The righteous man shall live by faith" (Galatians 3:11). A life of faith will enable you to trust God increasingly with every detail of your life, and to practice the following:
Go to God in prayer daily. (John 15:7)
Read God's Word daily (Acts 17:11); begin with the Gospel of John.
Obey God moment by moment. (John 14:21)
Witness for Christ by your life and words. (Matthew 4:19; John 15:8)
Trust God for every detail of your life. (1 Peter 5:7)
Holy Spirit -- allow Him to control and empower your daily life and witness.
        (Galatians 5:16-17; Acts 1:8)
God's Word instructs us not to forsake "the assembling of ourselves together." (Hebrews 10:25) Several logs burn brightly together; but put one aside on the cold hearth and the fire goes out. So it is with your relationship with other Christians.
If you do not belong to a church, do not wait to be invited. Take the initiative; call the pastor of a nearby church where Christ is honored and His Word is preached. Start this week, and make plans to attend regularly.
In the course of your new life in Jesus Christ, you will continually struggle with sin. Sometimes you will, in a moment of weakness, succumb to temptation and sin. Please do not lose hope or be discouraged. Know that you are not alone and that other Christians go through these struggles. The Apostle Paul faced the same thing in his walk with Christ. Of his life he said,
"For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?" (Romans 7:18-24)
But Paul does not leave it there. He goes on to say,
"Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin."
While you will always struggle with sin until the day the Lord comes to take you home to heaven, do not lose heart. If you turn to the Lord in repentance and confess your sins, He will forgive you and make you clean again. 1 John 1:9 says,
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
As a new child of God you can be assured of salvation. Salvation is not a "maybe" or an "I hope to be". It is a sure thing that is based on the promises of God's Word. The Apostle John said:
"And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life." (1 John 5:11-13)
Also as a new child of God you can share the same assurance that the Apostle Paul had:
"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)

6.HOW CAN I KNOW IF I AM SAVED? A SELF-TEST

Since the evidence of genuine salvation is the presence of the Holy Spirit within the individual, how can this be verified? How can we be reasonably certain about ourselves, as well as others, without being guilty of judging? To answer this, let's take our own case first-there are several "tests" that we can take to determine His presence within us: (all Scripture quotes from Parallel Bible, KJV/Amplified Bible Commentary).
    1. Romans 8:16 tells us: "The Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us] that we are children of God." First and foremost, we have the unshakable testimony from within us! The indwelling Holy Spirit of God constantly reassures us that we belong to Jesus Christ. 2. The entire book of First John was written as a "test" for determining the reality of salvation. Verse three of Chapter one tells us: "What we have seen and [ourselves] heard we are also telling you, so that you too may realize and enjoy fellowship as partners and partakers with us. And [this] fellowship that we have (which is a distinguishing mark of Christians) is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ, the Messiah." The fellowship enjoyed by genuine Christians is proof positive of salvation. Those who claim Christ, but yet rarely attend church to worship God and associate with other believers, are possibly fooling themselves! A backslidden Christian can stay out of church and away from other believers, but I can guarantee you from first-hand experience that there will never be a time when you will be comfortable with it! On the other side of the coin, verse 8 teaches us that if we deny the existence of sin within us, the Truth is not in us. Verse 3 of Chapter two teaches us that we are genuine and "growing in grace and knowledge of Christ", if we keep His commandments. Verse 10 teaches us that we are of Christ if we love the brethren. Again, those who habitually absent themselves from God's house and do not make it clear that they love being around God's children, are very likely to be tares and not wheat. Verse 15 teaches us that if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. "Worldly Christians" is almost a contradiction in terms and those who claim Christ, but yet cling to the value system of this world-are suspect. 3. 1 John 5:13 informs us that the entire Book of 1 John was written so that we can know that we possess eternal life in Christ. Do you know for absolute certainty that, if you were to die tonight, you would go to Heaven? 4. The Word of God teaches that the Bible is incomprehensible to the "natural man"-the unsaved individual. It is a spiritual book and the unsaved person is not only spiritually blind, but 1 Corinthians 2:14 tells us that he "is incapable" of knowing that which is spiritually discerned. Do you understand the Bible? Does it make sense to you and speak to your heart? Does it convict you of your sin and teach you the right way? 5.  The Bible is very clear that an unregenerate individual will not seek God (Rom.3:11). Are you painfully aware of your sinful nature and cry out to God from your heart for forgiveness when you sin? If so, this is one of the signs of having been born again. Is your soul, your conscience, sorely vexed when you see sin in the culture around you? When you see blatant sin in public, or on TV, or in Entertainment, or anywhere else you encounter it, do you feel a severe vexation in your spirit? The Bible says of Lot, who was foolish enough to live and do business in Sodom: "(God) delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds)" [2 Peter 2:7-8] If your heart is "vexed" by the terrible sin in our daily culture, that is a good sign you are saved. If your spirit is not vexed by this sin, that is a good sign you are not saved. 6.  The Bible says that an unregenerate individual is a slave of Satan and incapable of doing anything about it (Eph.2:2). Have you been able to turn your back upon this world and its sinful ways? Are all of your close friends Christians? If you have been born again, your unsaved friends will drop you like a bad habit! (Just as an illustration, spray a small amount of "WD-40" lubricant on a surface wet with water and watch how fast the water retreats! A genuine dose of salvation is like the WD-40 where reprobate buddies are concerned.) 7.  Do you love--really love--Christians and would rather be with them than anyone else? Can you meet a total stranger, find out that they are a believer, and then have instant fellowship with them? Is there "something" in your heart that draws you to them and establishes a closeness which cannot be explained any other way? [We alluded to this feature in Paragraph 2, above] 8.  Do you actually enjoy giving to the Lord's work? Do you give generously of your time, talent, and treasury? 9.  Do you sin less now than you did prior to receiving Christ? 10. Have other people seen the "fruit of the Spirit" at work in your life? That is, can they see genuine love, joy, peace, long-suffering, etc., (Gal.5:22), being wrought in and through you by God's Holy Spirit? Do they sense that you are a different person from the one you used to be? 11. Have you experienced persecution because of your faith in Christ? (Former friends who back away because of your testimony for Christ, are a subtle form of persecution). 12. Are you eagerly expecting and anticipating the any-moment return of Jesus Christ for His Church?
If you can truthfully answer "yes" to these questions, you are a child of God and the Holy Spirit dwells within you! If you cannot truthfully answer "yes" to these questions, then you are probably not saved and you need to go to the bottom of this page to the Salvation message and go through the steps in honesty and sincereness of heart so you can be saved!

"You must be born again"

The Bible is very clear on the necessity of a person being "Born Again" if they are to receive eternal life. Jesus coined this term, in John 3:3-7, when he told Nicodemus, "You must be born again" to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Since this necessity is so critical, Satan has attacked it with all his might for two thousand years, causing most "Christian" churches to stop teaching this doctrine, even though no one can be saved without undergoing this wondrous spiritual conversion. However, Satan's most effective weapon against being Born Again has been, and still is, confusion.
Fortunately, Jesus lovingly made this transformation process very simple, so simple that even those who are retarded or not educated can understand. There are several steps to becoming Born Again, listed below:

1. Understand that ALL men ever born are sinners. Romans 3:23, says, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." This message that all men are sinners is amply repeated through Scripture . This means you are a sinner in the eyes of an angry God, Who must punish all sin. Do you believe you are a sinner?

2. Since man is an imperfect sinner, and God is a perfect God, no man can save himself. Jesus made this fact very plain in Matthew 5:48, when He said, "Be ye, therefore, perfect, even as your Heavenly Father is perfect."!!!
If we all have to be perfect in God's eyes, how can there be anyone in Heaven, especially since the Bible declares, repeatedly, that ALL people are sinners? Obviously, no one is going to get to Heaven this way, by trying to be 'good enough' to merit Heaven. Since the Bible says there are going to be untold millions of people in Heaven, there must be some other way to get there, other than by trying to be 'good enough'.

You must also be very sorry for your sins, and want to have them forgiven. This is known as Repentance. The word Repent means to both be very sorry for your sins, and to want to not sin anymore. Repentance means the desire to turn your life around 180 degrees. This does not mean you will never sin again, but it does mean that sin will become the exception in your life, not the rule.
3. When the sinless Son of God, Jesus Christ, shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary, He died for the sins of His people in their place as a sacrificial substitute. And in doing so, He suffered the wrath of God the Father upon their sin. He paid the penalty for that sin in His own body and purchased their eternal redemption. This enables Him to give as a free gift His own holiness and righteousness to those who believe in Him and trust Him for salvation. making them absolutely perfect in God. s sight! Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." None of us deserve to be saved; in His love and mercy God extends grace to those who will believe. Grace is defined as "undeserved favor" and perhaps this little acrostic will help you to remember its meaning: G od. s Riches At Christ. s Expense. [The true meaning of GRACE]
4. In Ephesians 2:8-9, the Apostle Paul reiterates this teaching that eternal life with God is a free gift. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast." No man can stand before God in eternity, and boast that they 'earned' their way to Heaven. All people in Heaven will be there only because of Jesus' FREE Gift, which He obtained from God because of His substitutionary death sacrifice on the Cross. Rather than punishing each person's individual sins, God heaped all those sins on Jesus on the Cross Isaiah 53:2-12]

Now, you are probably thinking, 'How can I obtain this free gift of eternal life'? Again, the Bible is not silent. In Acts 16:25-33, the jailer anxiously asked Paul, "What must I do to be saved"? Paul answered "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved ..." verse 31". You must BELIEVE on Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. To truly believe, you must place your complete faith and trust in Christ and rely upon Him as your only hope of salvation and eternal life. This is a matter of the heart and you cannot hope to deceive God by putting on an act because He knows everything about you. Many people mistakenly think that by merely believing the facts concerning Jesus Christ. s death, burial, and resurrection, they will be automatically be given the gift of eternal life. But such is not the case. Preachers call that a "head knowledge and not a heart knowledge." Salvation is freely given, but only to those who are genuine believers.
  5. In John 1:1, 14, we see that Jesus Christ is God, equal with God, present with God from before the beginning of time, and the actual Creator of the Universe. He is 100% God and 100% human at the same time, which is why He used both titles during His ministry, Son of God and Son of Man. To become Born Again, you must believe this doctrine about Jesus Christ.

Verse 14 is most important, the teaching that Jesus God became man. This teaching becomes a point of separation between the followers of Christ and Antichrist. In 1 John 4:1-3, we see that anyone who denies that Jesus has come in the flesh is the spirit of antichrist. That is just what the Gnostics of that day were saying, i.e., that Jesus the human was not God Messiah come in the flesh; rather, the 'Christ Consciousness' the 'Messiah' Consciousness, came on Jesus at His baptism and left Him on the Cross; they believe Jesus was not God and Man. The New Age Movement and Freemasonry have resurrected this blasphemy with a vengeance.
6. Isaiah 53:6 foretells exactly what Jesus Christ did for us on the Cross; "the Lord [God the Father] has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Praise God!! Only the Wisdom, Grace, and Power of God Almighty could conceive of such a gracious Plan of Salvation!! God's Nature is such that sin must be punished. Period! But, God set up a Plan whereby an innocent substitute was to be punished instead of the guilty person. In the Old Testament, God allowed the lamb to be the substitute sacrifice for sin; Jesus then became the ultimate substitute sacrifice, for all the sins of the world. His was the Perfect sacrifice, that never needs to be repeated, and that saves all people forever more.
You must believe in, and understand, this principle of Substitute Punishment, before you can become Born Again. And, you must believe that Jesus Christ became the Perfect Substitute Punishment for YOU, before you can become Born Again.

Now that you understand these Truths, and believe them for your life, you now need to understand how you can obtain this FREE Gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. After all, if I were to attempt to give you a FREE gift, that gift would not become yours if you were to refuse to reach out and take that gift from my hand. So it is here. You must reach out and take this FREE Gift of Eternal Life from the hand of Jesus Christ. How is this done?

Through Saving Faith .

Notice I said Saving Faith . There are types of faith that will not get you saved. You may have 'head knowledge' faith that merely intellectually assents to the facts of Jesus Christ's person, but that is not Saving Faith. You may be in a 'church' or a cult that teaches many truths about Jesus Christ, but who teach that you must do many things to earn your way to Heaven. This is not Saving Faith.

Saving Faith is trusting in Jesus Christ, and Him alone, for your Salvation.
If you think you need to do anything for Salvation except trust in Jesus work on the cross, you are guilty of violating Ephesians 2:8-9 and Isaiah 53:6b. Most cults and false Christian religions err at this point; they add things that are "necessary" for Salvation, or they offer a counterfeit way to Heaven, i.e., Salvation by Baptism.

Do you want this Gift of Eternal Life that Jesus left Heaven and died on a cross to give you? If your answer is, 'Yes', you can immediately have Eternal Life.
Let me clarify exactly what this involves. First, you are going to transfer your trust, your hope of eternal life from what you have been doing to what Jesus Christ has done for you on the cross. Jesus will take your sin and transfer TO YOU His right standing with God the Father, what we call His righteousness . This means that though we have failed repeatedly to keep God's commandments, Christ perfectly obeyed all the laws of God. He lived the perfect life, so He could be the perfect, innocent substitutionary sacrifice that God would accept for your sins, and the sin of the entire world, for all who will believe.
Are you willing to repent of your sins right now, and become a responsible member of God's forever family, following Him and serving Him as a member of His forever family, following Him and serving Him as a member of His body, the Church? If your heartfelt answer is, "Yes", then we can go to Him now in prayer, and we can tell Him that you want to cease trusting in anything else for Eternal Salvation, especially in what you can do for yourself. You can place your trust in Him and Him alone for salvation. Before we pray this simple prayer, I need to point our that the Lord Jesus Christ is looking at your heart more than His is listening to your lips. As He promised, "Ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when [after] ye shall search for Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13).

If this is what you mean, then the Lord will hear your prayer and grant you eternal life, right now, in the privacy of your home. Let me pray.

"Father, I pray that You would grant the FREE gift of eternal life. May thy Holy Spirit draw him or her unto Thyself. Grant him faith to believe Thy wonderful promises. Grant him or her repentance to turn from his sins. Reveal unto him Jesus Christ crucified as the perfect substitutionary sacrifice, today."
Jesus Christ is right with you right now. You are not talking to anyone now, but to Him. If you really want to be Born Again, into the Eternal Family of God through Jesus Christ, pray this prayer, from your heart.

"Lord Jesus, I want you to come in and take over my life right now. I am a sinner. I have been trusting in myself and my own good works, and in other things. But, now I place my trust in you. I want You as my own personal Savior. I believe You died for me. I receive You as Lord and Master of my life. Help me to turn from my sins and follow You. I thank you for Your offer of the FREE gift of eternal life. I am not worthy of it, but I thank You for it. Amen."

Now, allow me to pray. "Father, you have heard the prayer which has been prayed. I ask that in this quiet moment, Thy Holy Spirit will grant unto him Your absolute assurance of life eternal; grant unto him the certainty that his sins are forgiven. Grant that he may hear, in the depths of his soul, Thy voice saying, 'Thy sins be forgiven thee. Go in peace'. Grant, O Jesus, that he may hear Thy voice saying, 'As far as the east is from the west, so far have I put thy sins from thee, never to remember them against thee anymore. [The person] that believeth on Me shall not come into condemnation . He that trusts in Me is passed from death unto life. He that believeth on Me shall not perish but has everlasting life [paraphrased from Psalm 103:12; John 3:1 8; 5:24; 3:16]. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen."

You have just prayed the most important prayer you have ever prayed in your life. If you were sincere in this prayer, I want you to see what Jesus says about what you have just done. In John 6:47, Jesus says, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me has everlasting life." In your prayer, you didn't hear any angel choirs or see any visions; however, by a simple act of faith, you have placed your trust for your eternal salvation in Jesus Christ.

Saving Faith is trusting in Jesus Christ ALONE for your salvation . If you meant with your heart what you just said with your lips, you have the promise of Jesus Christ that He has forgiven your sins, and has adopted you into the kingdom, and has given you eternal life in Heaven with Him.

If this sounds so simple you have trouble believing that it could be true, the Bible assures you that it is most definitely true. Over the centuries, man has deliberately complicated this simple Plan of Salvation that most people simply do not know how simple and uncomplicated God has planned Salvation through Jesus Christ to be!! If you were genuine in your prayer, you now have eternal life, and are as assured of it as if you were already there!! This is why Jesus said, that no person can ever take any of His who are Born Again out of the Father's hand.
How can you know for sure that you have been born again? Please do not expect any "earth-shaking" experience, because in the majority of cases it comes about in a rather peaceful way, a sense of relief and a load lifted. There will be no fireworks or brass bands playing, just a wonderful calm that is deep down inside. But with the passing of time, I have found that one of the best indicators of the New Birth is a genuine understanding of the Word of God. Prior to being Born Again, the "natural man", as the Bible calls him, (a lost person), cannot understand the Bible because it is spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14). Indeed, it is foolishness to him! So when the Word begins to make sense, to speak to your heart, and convict you of sin in your life, it is a very good indicator that you have the Holy Spirit of God residing within you. You see, a Christian obtains a new spiritual nature by the New Birth, but he does not get rid of the old nature he was born with. That is why it is so vitally important that we "grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18). We must cooperate with the Holy Spirit as we walk through this sinful and spiritually defiling world around us. The Holy Spirit literally takes up residence within us when we are Born Again and will never leave us nor forsake us.
Another wonderful evidence of genuine salvation is found in the "fruit of the Spirit" (Galatians 5:22) that will take place in our daily lives as the Holy Spirit works within us. His presence will be manifested to the outside world by means of the love, joy, peace, longsuffering, faith, etc., they see in us! Then, the Bible tells us in Romans 8:16 that, "The Spirit itself (lit. Himself) beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." In other words, the Holy Spirit living deep within us tells us that we belong to God.
But, He has done much more!! In Revelation 3:20, Jesus promised, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock [He has been knocking at the door of your heart, and you have just opened that door to let Him in]; if anyone hears and listens and heeds My voice, and opens the door I WILL come in to him and will eat with him, and he will eat with Me." Jesus Christ has just entered INTO YOUR HEART through the work of the Holy Spirit, to live in your heart for the rest of your life!! What great news, for now we have the same Holy Spirit power within us that raised Jesus from the dead [Romans 8:11]. In fact, read Romans 8 to see all the advantages we have because the Holy Spirit indwells us daily.

Salvation through Jesus shed blood on Calvary gives you a deep, abiding Personal Relationship with His Holy Spirit while you live on this Earth!! As you read the Bible, especially the New Testament, you will come to understand the wonderful depth you can reach between you and your Creator!! Salvation produces a relationship that will deeply enrich your life daily!! You will never have believed, prior to becoming Born Again, what kind of life you have been missing out on for so long!

Please write back to tell us if you have decided to become Born Again. We need to give you some practical advice on how to ensure your continued maturity and productivity in the Lord. When you e-mail us, please put "Born Again" in the subject field.

We love you in the Lord. Pray for us in this ministry, in warning people all over the world about the impending New World Order. Satan has been so strong in attacking this ministry.

Because of His Love On Calvary,
David Bay

7.What do you need to believe to be saved?

Jesus’ teaching about being “saved”

Jesus says a very profound thing to his disciples in Mark 16:
“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Mark 16:15-16
To be in a position to be “saved” therefore one must believe in the gospel and be baptised. We have already considered baptism in previous posts and articles but in this article we will look at what the gospel consists of and what it is we need to believe.
Clearly belief is extremely important and therefore what we believe is something we should all consider. In Ephesians Paul writes to the believers and says:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8
So the principle is that we cannot save ourselves and that being ‘saved’ will be a gift of God. How are we saved? Through faith. In what? The gospel as Jesus has told us.

What is the gospel?

We have a whole section on this in the Bible Teaching part of the website so head over there if you want some detail. In simple terms the gospel consists of the covenants of promise that God has given to man and their associated doctrines. Consider this verse:
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:3-4
So by the knowledge we have in the promises of God we have an opportunity to be saved from sin and death and be able to partake of immortality in Gods grace when Jesus returns to the earth to establish God’s kingdom. These promises are extremely important and they have to do with the nation of Israel – Paul tells us this in his letter to the Ephesians:
“Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh…  That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”
Ephesians 2:11-13
So the Ephesian believers, now baptised into Christ had become a part of the covenants of promise. They were no longer aliens from the things of Israel. The things which had been promised to that nations fathers. What things? Well to understand that question you would have to study the promises of God to Israel and in particular to the fathers of Israel, Abraham Isaac, Jacob and King David.
There are three main covenants outlined in the Bible and each have associated doctrines:
1. Genesis 3 – promise of the seed which would destroy the serpent power, associated doctrine: atonement in Christ.
2. Genesis 12-22 – promises, to Abraham, associated doctrines: resurrection, eternal life,  forgiveness of sins,  Israel to be a great nation,  atonement in Christ.
3. 2 Samuel 7 – promises to David, associated doctrines: Christ on the throne,  Kingdom of Israel restored on earth,  resurrection,  Christ’s second coming.
In Galatians Paul tells us that the Gospel was preached to the ancients of old and in particular was preached to Abraham in the promises from God:
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.” Galatians 3:8
He goes on to say that all those who are “in Christ” – who have believed in the gospel and been baptised based upon that belief, are heirs of such promises:
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:28-29
In Acts 8 we have described to us what constitutes the gospel:
“…when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.” Acts 8:12
So then the gospel is the good news of the promises of God and how they will and are outworked in the Lord Jesus Christ and how we can be associated with them. There are two parts “the name of Jesus Christ” and “the Kingdom of God”.
Christadelphians believe their statement of faith is a summery of the gospel and associated doctrines. You can view this here » Obviously as time has gone on much error has crept into “christianity” and therefore we require more clarification on certain doctrines than maybe the apostles of old did. For example the doctrine of the “Trinity” was not then known in a Christian guise and therefore the apostles would not of had to labour the unity of God.
Because the statement of faith summarises the things required to be saved we uphold and guard the things expressed within it passionately. Our beliefs define us as a community and those not believing the things we profess to believe are asked to leave as they are not Christadelphians anymore. Because they have moved away from the gospel they do not subscribe to what Christadelphians believe in (see this principle being outworked by the Apostle Paul in Acts 19:8-9). We call the different aspects of the gospel “first principles”. The first principles never change and a knowledge of them makes you accountable to baptism. Once baptised you need to show your faith in works (James 2:18). Studying the scriptures and thinking upon them allows your knowledge of Gods principles to grow enabling you to help overcome sin and manifest God in your character in some small way. However once you understand the gospel there will not be new fundamental truths revealed to you – anything new will build upon the foundation already laid in the gospel (Ephesians 2:20).

Is a person who does not accurately know the gospel able to be saved?

No – the Bible tells us we need to have faith in the gospel to be saved as we have seen in Mark 16:15-16. If what the person thinks is not a true reflection of the gospel as revealed in the word then they cannot believe in the gospel or been baptised correctly into that gospel. According to the words of Christ in the reference quoted, they cannot be saved.
Many may say this is a bit of a legalistic way of looking at things. God can save who he wants they will say. This is a fair point but God does not lie. Therefore he will not go back on what he has revealed in His word. The word sets out the process for salvation based upon a belief in the gospel.

When will we be saved?

It’s clear then that we need to understand the gospel, believe it, be baptized into that belief to be in a position to be saved. When will the “saving” take place? Those who have this knowledge and have been baptised are in a sense “saved” now as they are in that position. However they still sin and still die and so the ultimate “saving” comes in the future. Consider Jesus’ words: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. The “saving” will be done at the same time as the “condemning” – this will be determined by the judgment which will be carried out when Jesus returns to the earth:
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom” 2 Timothy 4:1
See also Romans 14:10 and 2 Corinthians 5:10. At the judgment those who have known the gospel will be judged by Christ to see what they have done with that knowledge. They will either be “saved” or “condemned”. We can see from this reference in Peter who mentions that it is at the judgement when we will eventually be saved:
“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?” 1Peter 4:17
So then it is very important that we understand and uphold the principles of the gospel if we are to be “saved” in that day. I urge you therefore to study your Bible to gain a better understanding of the promises God has revealed in His word. 8.Do You Know For Sure? Why Should I let You Into My Heaven?

DO YOU KNOW FOR SURE .....

........that you are going to be with God in heaven? If God were to ask you,

" WHY SHOULD I LET YOU INTO MY HEAVEN "
What would you say? If you are uncertain or hesitate for a moment
to answer that question, this booklet has the ...

BEST NEWS you could ever hear!

The few minutes it will take you to read the following pages may be the most important time you will ever spend!

Did you know that the Bible tells how you can KNOW FOR SURE
that you have eternal life and will go to be with God in heaven?

"These things I have written to you ... that you may know that you have eternal life. " I John 5:13

Here's how you can
KNOW FOR SURE...

1.HEAVEN (ETERNAL LIFE)IS A FREE GIFT.

The Bible says, ". . . the GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23b)
And because heaven is a gift like any other genuine gift......

IT IS NOT EARNED or DESERVED.

Therefore, no amount of personal effort, good works, or religious deeds can earn a place in heaven for you.
"By grace you have been saved through faith, and that NOT OF YOURSELVES. it is
the gift of God, NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast. " Ephesians 2:8.9
Why is it that no one can earn his way to heaven? Because ...

2.MAN IS A SINNER.

"AII have sinned and fall short of the glory, of God. " Romans 3:23
Sin is transgressing God's law and includes such things as lying, lust, cheating.

deceit, anger, evil thoughts. immoral behavior, and more.

And because of this .....

MAN CANNOT SAVE HIMSELF.

If you wanted to save yourself by good deeds, do you know how good you would have to be?
The Bible says you would have to be perfect. "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. " Matthew 5:48
With such a high standard, no one can save himself for God also says,
"Whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all." James 2:10
In spite of our sin, however ...

3.GOD IS MERCIFUL, and therefore
DOESN'T WANT TO PUNISH US.
This is because ...
"God is love. . . " I John 4:8b

and He says,
"I have loved you with an everlasting love."
Jeremiah 31:3b
But the same Bible that tells us that God loves us also tells us that . . .

GOD IS JUST, and therefore
MUST PUNISH SIN.He says ...
"I will by no means clear the guilty"
Exodus 34:7b
"The soul who sins shall die."
Ezekiel 18:4

We have a problem; we have all sinned. The penalty for sin is death.

We need forgiveness so that we can have a right relationship with God.

God solved this problem for us in
the Person of ...
4.JESUS CHRISTWho exactly would you say Jesus Christ is?
The Bible tells us clearly that He is the infinite
GOD-MAN.
"In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) ... and the
Word (Jesus) was with God ... and the Word (Jesus) became flesh and dwelt among us. . ." John 1:1,14
Jesus Christ came to earth and lived a sinless life, but while on earth ...

WHAT DID HE DO?
He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and rose from the grave to purchase a place for us in heaven.
"All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned, every, one, to his own way, and
the Lord has laid on Him (Jesus) the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:6
God hates our sins but because of His love for us, He has placed them all
on His Son. Christ bore our sin in His body on the cross.
Now Jesus Christ offers you eternal life (heaven) as a free gift.

This gift is received by ...

5. FAITH
Faith is the key that opens the door to heaven.
Many people mistake two things for saving faith:

1. Mere INTELLECTUAL ASSENT, that is, believing certain historical facts. The
Bible says the devil believes in God, so believing in God is not saving faith.

2. Mere TEMPORAL FAITH, that is, trusting God for temporary crises such as financial, family, or physical needs.

Now these are good, and you should trust Christ
for these, but they are not saving faith!

SAVING FAITH is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. It means resting upon Christ alone and what He has done
rather than upon what you or I have done to get us into heaven.

"Believe (trust) on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. . . " Acts 16:31a

Faith is like the hand of a beggar receiving the gift of a King. We don't deserve the gift of eternal life.

But we can have it, if we will receive it by faith.

You have just read the greatest story ever told about the greatest offer
ever made by the greatest Person who ever lived - Jesus Christ.

The question that God is asking
you now is ...

WOULD YOU LIKE TO RECEIVE THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE?Because this is such an important matter ...
LET'S CLARIFY just what this involves.
It means, first of all, that you
TRANSFER YOUR TRUST from what you have been doing to what Christ
has done for you on the cross. It means, next, that you RECEIVE THE RESURRECTED, LIVING
CHRIST into your life as SAVIOR.
He says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock [at the door of your life].
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him. "
Revelation 3:20

It means further that you RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR LIFE AS LORD .
He comes as Master and King. There is a throne room in your heart, and that throne is rightly His. He
made you. He bought you and He wants to take His rightful place on the throne of your life.
It means, finally, that you REPENT OF YOUR SINS. That means that you are willing to turn from anything you have been doing
that is not pleasing to Him and to follow Him as He reveals His will to you in His Word.

Now, if this is what you
really want ...
YOU CAN G0 TO GOD IN PRAYERright where you are. You can receive His gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ right now"...with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth
confession is made to salvation ... for whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Romans 10: 10, 13
If you want to receive the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, then
call on Him, asking Him for this gift right now.

HERE"S A SUGGESTED PRAYER:"Lord Jesus Christ, I know I am a sinner and do not deserve eternal life. But, I believe You died and rose from the grave to purchase a place in heaven for me. Lord Jesus, come into my life; take control of my life; forgive my sins and save me. I repent of my sins and now place my trust in you for my salvation. I accept the free gift of eternal life."
If this prayer is the sincere desire of your heart, look at what Jesus promises to those who believe in Him.
"Most assuredly, I say to you., he who believes in Me has everlasting life. " John 6:47

WELCOME to God's Family! If you have truly repented (forsaken, turned away) from your sins, placed your trust in Jesus Christ's sacrificial death,

and received the gift of eternal life, you are now a child of God!

Forever! Welcome to the Family of God!

"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name."
John 1:12

TODAY is your SPIRITUAL BIRTHDAYa day that you will always want to remember!
"Who were born, not of blood, nor of the Will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God. " John 1:13

When you were physically born, the day of your birth was attested by a birth certificate.

And so today, to help you recall what God had done in your life on this important day, we invite you to sign and keep the following
